San Antonio Native Comes Back Home and Hits the Ground Running
SAN ANTONIO (January 20, 2009) – Silver Eagle Distributors, L.P., the local distributor of Anheuser-Busch and Modelo products, is pleased to welcome Sonya Medina to its San Antonio office. A native of San Antonio, Medina joins Silver Eagle as the Director of Community & External Affairs.
In this role, she will oversee all Corporate Affairs activities at Silver Eagle's San Antonio office, including: charitable contributions, consumer awareness and education initiatives, internal and external communications and events, and development of communications strategy related to brand identity and public relations opportunities.
Prior to joining Silver Eagle, Medina served in the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy and Director of Projects for the First Lady. In this capacity, she was the key advisor to President George W. Bush in areas of education policy, from early childhood through higher education.
Additionally, in directing First Lady Laura Bush's projects and policy office, Medina worked on a variety of issues regarding education, women and children's health and global diplomacy. She also served as the Director of the AT&T Corporate Foundation in San Antonio from fall 2006 through spring 2008. In this role, she led the foundation's efforts to improve access to information technology and education by overseeing a $120 million budget of corporate and charitable giving.
Medina also enjoys volunteering and giving back to the community where she grew up.
