Silver Eagle Distributors Takes Its Place as 2nd Largest U.S. Beer Wholesaler
Texas-based Distributor Climbs Two Spots in Beverage World's Annual Report
HOUSTON (September 15, 2009) – Silver Eagle Distributors, L.P., the local distributor of Anheuser-Busch, Modelo and multiple craft beer products, has been named the 2nd largest U.S. beer wholesaler according to rankings just released by Beverage World magazine.
The company, which operates five branches and two depots in the greater Houston and San Antonio-areas, climbed two spots from its number 4 spot in last year's rankings. "The growth in our business is directly related to the hard work and dedication of our 1,300 + employees," explained John L. Nau III, president and CEO of Silver Eagle Distributors. "Many thanks to our loyal customers that choose our products each and every day."
Beverage World's annual rankings, which are complied each August, rank beer wholesalers based on case volume from January through December of the prior year. Silver Eagle's 2008 case volume totaled out at 46.7 Million, vs. 2007's number of 35.3 Million. A portion of this increase is contributed to the 2007 acquisition of San Antonio-based distributor Bud Co., which became part of Silver Eagle Distributors in August of 2007.
The rankings released today do not reflect Silver Eagle's January 2009 acquisition of rights to the Glazer's Family of Companies' crafts and import brands within Silver Eagle's existing territories. These brands, which include Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada and Pyramid, add more than 75 specialty products to the company's already diverse portfolio of beer, water and energy drinks and will be included in next year's rankings.
