Silver Eagle Distributors Brings a New Line-Up of Local and National Fall Craft Brews to San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 21, 2011) – While stepping outside on a typical San Antonio September day and feeling the warmth of low-90 degree temperatures may not be many people’s idea of fall weather, it is indeed a sign to San Antonioians that fall is once again upon us. Just in time to celebrate the passing of 100 degree days, Silver Eagle introduces a full line-up of craft beers set to pair perfectly with the “cooler” temperatures and tastes of a new season.

Close to 20 varieties of fall styles are now available from Silver Eagle in retailers throughout San Antonio and surrounding areas. Highlights of the season consist of brews providing strong compliments to the tastes associated with this time of year, including heavier wheat ales, pumpkin-infused varieties and crisp ciders.

“Our new line-up of seasonal craft brews provide San Antonioians a great opportunity to taste fall flavors from both local, Texas-based brewers and from well-known national favorites,” explained John L. Nau, III, president and CEO, Silver Eagle Distributors. We are continuously looking for brands and styles that our consumers will enjoy, and we think this season’s offerings provide options for every taste preference.”

A tried-and-true favorite for San Antonio beer lovers is Texas brewer Saint Arnold’s Oktoberfest – a full-bodied, malty, slightly sweet beer celebrating the autumn harvest. This rich beer has a round, malt flavor, proving perfect for a cool fall evening.

Fort Worth-based Rahr Brewing’s Oktoberfest is a traditional Marzen-style lager, dark amber in color, super smooth, with a medium body and sweet, malty finish. This Oktoberfest pairs well with smoked meats and cheeses.

Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat is a traditional Belgian-style wheat ale brewed with ripe pumpkins and a variety of autumnal spices, including nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. This seasonal unfiltered wheat ale has a deep amber color and is crafted with a refreshingly distinct pumpkin spice that fully captures all the flavors of fall.

Woodchuck’s Pumpkin Cider is an attractive bouquet of autumn spices starring cinnamon and nutmeg, and balancing out the taste with a hint of American white oak. Part of Woodchuck’s brand new Private Reserve Label, the Pumpkin Cider is naturally gluten free and handcrafted with techniques similar to those found in the early days of American cider making.

Sierra Nevada’s Tumbler Autumn Brown Ale uses two-row pale, crystal, chocolate and smoked malts within days of roasting at the peak of its flavor to give the fall seasonal a gracefully smooth malt character. The brown ale is full-bodied and perfect for brisk evenings spent carving pumpkins or watching football!

The seasonal offerings are only available for a limited time period in 6-pack 12 oz. bottles at select retailers throughout the area. The fall varieties of Saint Arnold, Sierra Nevada, Rahr and Shock Top also can be found on draft at select bars and restaurants.
