Program Benefits Folds of Honor Foundation and Local Non-Profit Hope4Heroes

SAN ANTONIO (September 7, 2011) – Today, John Nau, president and CEO, Silver Eagle Distributors, was joined by Burl Yarbrough, president, San Antonio Missions, Sergeant Scott Momper, recipient, Folds of Honor Foundation (FOH) and Vic Luebker, CEO, Hope4Heroes, at Nelson Wolff Municipal Stadium as he presented a check to the FOH and Hope4Heroes in support of our military heroes.

In June, Silver Eagle Distributors announced the ‘Here’s to the Heroes’ program, which aimed to raise up to $2 million to help fund scholarships for the FOH – an organization that provides educational scholarships for families of U.S. military personnel killed or disabled while serving their country. In addition, Silver Eagle Distributors announced they would support local non-profit, Hope4Heroes, an organization that provides educational scholarships for San Antonio military families.

The program incorporated a variety of local and national fundraising efforts, including patriotic Budweiser cans and packaging, Budweiser happy hours, and a home run donation program through the San Antonio Missions. As a result of the packaging program, FOH will receive $29,374 towards the national fundraising effort. This contribution was made possible through Silver Eagle’s Budweiser sales in San Antonio from Memorial Day to July 10th and was matched by Anheuser-Busch. This contribution will help provide more than five, $5,000 scholarships to wounded warriors and their families.

Monday night, the home run program wrapped-up after the final San Antonio Missions regular season game with a total of 104 home runs in Wolff Stadium. Each of these home runs provided a $100 donation to local non-profit, Hope4Heroes totaling $10,400, which will be used to fund more than ten $1,000 educational scholarships for local military and their families. “The San Antonio Missions are honored to be a part of the ‘Here’s to the Heroes’ program. The Missions and their fans are very proud of our military and we were fortunate to have a record-setting team that was able to make a significant contribution to such a great cause. We are privileged to work with Silver Eagle Distributors to provide for our military men and women and their families,” said Burl Yarbrough, president, San Antonio Missions.

“Silver Eagle Distributors is thrilled of the success of this program and proud that we can help honor our country’s military and their families through raising funds for education scholarships,” said John Nau, president and CEO of Silver Eagle Distributors. Locally, Silver Eagle Distributors supports numerous military initiatives throughout the year, including the San Antonio Greater Chamber of Commerce’s Celebrate America’s Military, Operation Homefront, Center for the Intrepid, Fisher House, A Night to Honor Our Heroes, Association of the U.S. Army and Military Appreciation Nights at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and San Antonio Rampage.
